What is the Student Technology Program?

If you need a laptop for classes, or you have a device but it is not meeting your needs, the campus Student Technology Program is available to loan you a PC laptop for the duration of your time here on campus. Details on the available laptops are below.

The program is on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.

  • FAFSA filers
  • Illinois Promise
  • Illinois Commitment

Where to get support for your hardware

For hardware issues, please contact the Technology Services Help Desk at consult@illinois.eduand let them know this laptop is part of the Student Technology Program. Arrangements will be made to replace a defective laptop.

NOTE: WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER ANY FILES OR PERSONAL DATA. PLEASE STORE ALL FILES ON A CLOUD STORAGE ACCOUNT (U of I Box, Google Drive, OneDrive).

Which laptops are available?

The Student Technology Program has two Windows-capable laptops available for long-term loan. Laptop models may differ, but will at least have the following specs:

  • Intel Core i5 Processor
  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • 512GB Solid State Drive
  • 16GB RAM
  • Camera & Microphone
  • Wireless
  • Power adapter
  • USB Ports (USB-C and USB 3.0)
  • HDMI
  • Audio Jack
